P astor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

We all want the good life. Advertisements and our entertainment-oriented world give us one definition of what it means to live the good life: wealth and ease, freedom from financial worry, great vacations, status, fame and recognition. It’s pretty hard to escape these messages since they bombard us constantly. Jesus talks often about the good life too, but he frames it in an entirely different way.

Throughout the gospels, he talks about a life in God, a life lived in God’s Kingdom that has a completely different set of values, which include love and service, surrendering and offering oneself to God. The good life for us concerns the good that God desires, a life fueled by faith. When we live that kind of life, we long to know more of God and God’s will for ourselves. This is life that is God-focused, not self-centered, a life that considers the needs of others, the common good...

Paradise Perk and Serendipities
Our on-site coffee shop, the Paradise Perk, is open nearly every Sunday morning, 9 am-1 pm. A 16-oz cup of fresh-brewed coffee from the self-serve cart only costs $2, and specialty drinks just a bit more. The Perk also offers a wide variety of espresso drinks, smoothies, teas, and soda. All proceeds support youth missions and make the life-changing trips we offer affordable for our church families and students. In 2018, the senior high youth go on a mission trip to Houston, to help clean up after Hurricane Harvey. Ask Christopher Wurpts about how you can be a part of it even if you aren't a member of the youth group. And, did you hear the news? The church voted to approve Christopher as a candidate to ministry in the United Methodist Church! Send him a note of congratulations, and wish him a happy birthday too on January 27.

The church gift shop, Serendipities, is also open Sunday mornings, 9-11 am, and on Wednesdays, 9 am-12 noon. Purchases support local missions.
