Paradise Valley United Methodist Church
Celebrate Rev. Brenda Smith's Ordination
This Sunday, you're invited to celebrate Rev. Brenda Smith's ordination as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church. We'll have cake after every worship service! Brenda, who is now officially a full-time clergy member, and is PVUMC's Director of Family Ministry.
Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

We’re talking in worship about being outsiders. Each of us personally knows something about how hard that experience can be. Maybe you’ve been an outsider at some time in your family, or in political conversations, or in your career or even at church. You feel dismissed or ignored. This week we talk about persons with disabilities, who can often be treated as outsiders in our society. I know there are many kinds of disabilities that our own church members have experienced. Some are temporary and some are life-long. We’ve had to deal with this in our own family.

When my wife occasionally needs to use a wheelchair, we quickly find out how accessible and welcoming a venue can be. When we visit the zoo, for instance, it’s often hard to get to the front of the crowd to see...

We Welcome Children at PVUMC - See the New Pew Pocket Cards!
We have new "Kids are Welcome" cards in the pew pockets to encourage parents and to help children better experience worship. Sunday Summer Camp for our elementary as well as Preschool kids is offered at the 9:30 am worship service. If you would like to volunteer as a summer camp teacher, please email Rev. Brenda Smith. Just once or twice a month will help a lot, and you'll be working with others as a team.

Worship and Fellowship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) has 3 services on Sunday. Dowload bulletins for 8 and 9:30:

11 am Ignite worship is bulletin-free. All services include the  Looking Ahead. This month, we feature a printed calendar for our "Six Weeks of Summer" Looking Ahead. Visit the website  calendar and news blog to read announcements online.

Check the calendar for other activities scheduled for Sunday, and through Aug 12. PLEASE NOTE: The PVUMC Book Group meets July 10, not July 3. Read More.

During July, we continue to lift up prayers for each other but we do not print the Prayers of Intercession in the Looking Ahead. Unless otherwise requested, prayer requests are e-mailed to the 200+ Prayer Team members and shared with pastors and staff. Prayer team members meet on Wednesdays to pray and send cards to those being prayed for that week.  Submit a prayer request using our online request form or by call the church office at 602.840.8360. Prayer request cards are also in the pew pockets.

The Senior High Youth Group Prepares to Go on a Mission Trip
The Jr High Mission Team was in Tucson this week, and the Senior High Mission Team leaves for San Francisco on July 21. If you would still like a "Prayer Deck" of playing cards in support of our youth mission participants, let Christopher Wurpts know. Each card in the 52-card "Prayer Deck" features a photo of a student participant or a youth worker for whom you can pray for this summer. $25/deck.
