Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

Our lives can easily be cocooned. We can wall ourselves off from people we don’t want to see, people we don’t agree with, and people who make us nervous or angry. I reflect how Jesus modeled a different way of living, with an openness to all who came to him, whether it was people who would become disciples, or people who needed healing or a spiritual conversation. Jesus did not run from those who opposed him, who saw God and faith differently. Jesus did not run from those who had a large need in their lives, emotionally or spiritually. I think Jesus knew these encounters could be times where the Holy Spirit would show up and begin to work to bring help, understanding, strength, sometimes through surprising encounters.
This Sunday, on Father's Day, Dr. Buzz Stevens will be preaching...

Children are our Future. Help Lead them this Summer at Sunday Camp.
Sunday Summer Camp is in full swing from now until August 13. PVUMC offers weekly summer Sunday classes for preschoolers-4th graders. It's a more relaxed time of year, and we encourage our regular teachers to take a well-deserved break while encouraging others who love children and want to share their faith with children to help lead during the summer. Please check your schedule and sign up by emailing Rev. Brenda Smith. Just once or twice will help a lot, and you'll be working with others as a team.

Spring 2017 Church Directory
If you haven't yet picked up your Spring 2017 church directory, we invite you to stop by the church office soon to get your copy. Our summer hours are 9 am-5 pm, Monday-Thursday, and 9 am-12 noon on Fridays. Families who were photographed for the directory, and those who submitted photos, receive a free directory. Those families also received an interactive pdf via email. Those not pictured, but who are part of the roster, may purchase a copy of the directory for $10. The book is for your personal use, and for church business only. The photos and data are the property of the church and may not to be used by outside parties or used to solicit others outside of church business.Thank you for helping us create community at PVUMC.
You're Invited to Participate in the 2017 Sermon Survey
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church recently emailed a survey on behalf of Senior Pastor Dave Summers to solicit input from our members and constituents on upcoming sermon topics. The last time we surveyed our membership was June 2014. Pastor Dave hopes you will help provide direction on the kinds of messages he and the rest of the clergy will preach from the pulpit this fall and beyond. What keeps you rooted in the Word? How do you grow in your relationship with God and with others in our faith community and beyond? The survey will be open until June 20. Please participate if you can.

Thank you for subscribing. Update your profile/ email preferences below.
Church Office Summer Hours and Church Charge Conference
The Pastor/Staff/Parish Relations Committee (PSPRC) has decided to expand use of flex time for our administrative staff. “It’s one way to reward our hard-working staff,” PSPRC Chair Jim Bateman said. As a result of realigned schedules, the church office will be closed on Friday afternoons for the summer, effective immediately. Church Administrator Mickey Price said staff would have more flexibility in designing their workweeks while still meeting the expectations of the church. A day porter will be on campus to handle all scheduled events on Fridays. The change will be in place through Friday, September 1. Summer Hours will be 9 am-5 pm, Monday-Thursday and 9 am-12 noon, Fridays.
NOTE: Next Sunday, please plan to come to our annual meeting, the Church Charge Conference, at 12:15 pm in the chapel on Sunday, June 25.
