Paradise Valley United Methodist Church
Family Sunday
We invite you to worship together as a family in lieu of Sunday school classes. We have a Children's Moment at 9:30 am worship, and Praise Packs for the kids to enjoy. Childcare is available in the childcare center. Next week is Promotion Sunday and the beginning of our Summer Sundays.
Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

Do you feel overbooked? Overscheduled? We all long for some breathing room in our lives, some respite from the constant pace of life. Our world certainly pushes us and often, it seems, at an ever faster pace. Finding time to slow down or create some breathing room in our schedules is something most of us want. As we begin our “Overbooked” worship series, we start with wisdom from the Psalms, which acknowledges that life is too brief and frail for us all. It goes by too fast and none of us are God, that is, we don’t get to be in control of how much life we have. When we are face to face with life’s frailty, we can have many reactions, perhaps anxiety, perhaps a more faithful reflection. Some of us think on these things and develop a bucket list of things we definitely want to do or see before our time is up. That kind of list reminds us...

Children are our Future. Help Lead them this Summer at Sunday Camp.
Beginning June 4, and continuing through August 13, PVUMC offers weekly summer Sunday classes for preschoolers-4th graders. It's a more relaxed time of year, and we encourage our regular teachers to take a well-deserved break while encouraging others who love children and want to share their faith with children to help lead during the summer. Please check your schedule and sign up by emailing Rev. Brenda Smith. Just once or twice will help a lot, and you'll be working with others as a team.

Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) has 3 services on Sunday.

Squad 57 meets at 9:30 am in H6.

New Summer Pathways Classes Offer Community and Engagement
Get closer to God and create community with others on a spiritual journey. Learn about centering prayer, take a yoga class, engage in a Bible study, or explore your spiritual gifts. This summer, the church offers several ways for you to create or deepen your own spiritual disciplines. See the Looking Ahead and explore our website.
Pastor Eve Williams Appointed to Advent UMC in Las Vegas
On May 17, Bishop Robert Hoshibata met with a group of PVUMC lay leaders to respond to and better understand their concerns regarding the appointment of Rev. Eve Williams as pastor of Advent United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada, effective July 1, 2017. After a lengthy discussion and prayerful consideration, the Bishop told the group that he stood by his decision, but would work with the church to help meet our pastoral needs after Pastor Eve's departure. Eve and William will be dearly missed, and you are invited to donate to a love gift for her and her son. You're also invited to join us June 11 for a reception.
Volunteer at VBC - July 17-21
Adults and youth in 7th grade and up are encouraged to volunteer at Hero Central, this year's Vacation Bible Camp program, July 17-21. This comes BEFORE the youth mission trip and AFTER Camp Mingus, so please help us reach out to children and the community. You can be God's love in action this summer! Volunteers also needed at Camp Mingus.
