Walk for the Homeless with Team PVUMC
Every year, we gather a team of walkers to participate in the UMOM Walk for Youth and Homeless Families at the Phoenix Zoo. We’re hoping to recruit 50 walkers and raise $2,500 in donations in support of homeless families.Together, we are God’s love in action! Join Team PVUMC, start asking for donations, and we'll see you at the zoo on September 23.
Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

At the heart of the gospel is a message of unconditional love, the kind of love we most need, the kind of love God offers so generously to us. This is the kind of love that changes us, the kind of love that reflects the character and nature of Christ. Love like this is a distinctive feature of Christianity. It’s what sets us apart. It’s what allows our faith to offer what the world aches to know and find. It is also where we can be accused of the worst hypocrisy when we fail to live up to this kind of love. But Jesus says it very plainly in the gospel of John, “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Jesus loves the disciples and us as God does: fully, completely, without reservation or condition. Jesus has always demonstrated great love for others and for the disciples, but now he says it plainly. There is no mistaking how he cares for the disciples and how they care for one another. The same is true for us.

Worship and Fellowship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) has 3 services on Sunday:
8 am traditional and intimate in the chapel;
9:30 am traditional/blended, sanctuary. Sunday School is offered at this time.
11 am in the chapel - Ignite, contemporary

You may access bulletins, the  Looking Ahead and bimonthly Desert Scroll at We celebrate our holiday weekend with Family Sunday, where children attend worship with their families in lieu of classes. No youth or elementary classes will be offered at 9:30 am, but we will have preschool classes and childcare.

The Prayers of Intercession are included in the Looking Ahead. Unless otherwise requested, prayer requests are e-mailed to the 200+ Prayer Team members and shared with pastors and staff. Prayer team members meet on Wednesdays to pray and send cards to those being prayed for that week.  Submit a prayer request using our online request form or call the church office at 602.840.8360.
Children Invited to Join Music Makers on Wednesdays After School 
Students in 1st-6th grade are invited to join PVUMC's Music Makers program on Wednesday afternoons, beginning this week, Wednesday, August 30. Students learn music, sing and ring in this fun afterschool group, who also perform in worship from time to time. Unfortunately, the Sunday morning Kids Choir has been postponed until the new year. Navigating Common Ground
In partnership with Salaam-Chai-Paradise, PVUMC is launching “Common Ground,” a series promoting cross-cultural awareness and better understanding of our neighbors and of ourselves. Everyone is invited to join us Thursdays at 6:30 pm in H1 this September to begin “Navigating Common Ground.” The videos and discussions, led by Keith Sobraske and Stu Selthun, begin with a video by Author and Activist Brian McLaren on Thursday, September 7
Multifaith Food Drive September 10
This Sunday, we have our first Sunday of the month food drive for UMOM and next Sunday, September 10 , PVUMC partners with other places of worship and the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona (ISBA) for a multifaith food drive. If you did not get a bag last week with a list of items to bring, pick one up this Sunday. and return the filled bag on Sunday, September 10 .
