Journeys: Small Groups at PVUMC
Explore. Discover. Connect. PVUMC invites you to travel with others on the pathway to faith this month. This Sunday, September 10, we roll out our Journeys small groups minstry program, with several itineraries to choose from. We want you to find a place to belong on a shared journey of life and faith.
Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

I think our faith grows in interesting and often unpredictable ways. Sometimes because of a crisis in life, we get pushed to listen more closely to God, to seek spiritual wisdom and guidance. We feel our need to find a source of strength in God we have not previously claimed. Sometimes faith grows serendipitously, when we find ourselves interested or drawn to want more or know more of God.Often our faith grows in fits and starts, not in deliberate ways, but in response to life’s challenges, encounters and our openness to God. I always want to encourage the church to be intentional about faith, but I know that life gets in the way and we have to deal with that.

I like how Colossians puts it, “And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust Him, too, for each day’s problems...

Join Team PVUMC and Walk for Homeless Families and Youth Sept 23
Every year, we gather a team of walkers to participate in the UMOM Walk for Homeless Families and Youth at the Phoenix Zoo. We’re hoping to recruit 50 walkers and raise $2,500 in donations in support of homeless families. Join Team PVUMC, start asking for donations, and we'll see you at the zoo on Saturday, September 23. Rev. Brenda Smith is our captain, and Thrive 34 will end their lock-in at the zoo. Families are encouraged to join our team, and make a day of it at the zoo.

PVUMC Hosts Syrian Sweets Exchange 5.0 Sunday, October 1
Syrian Sweets Exchange Phoenix has partnered with PVUMC to host Syrian Sweets Exchange 5.0 on Sunday, October 1 . The event provides a chance to meet some of the Syrian refugees our own church has sponsored, and who are selling handcrafted items, as well as meet the bakers who sell homemade sweets to support their families. The event will also feature kid-friendly activities like balloon making, face painting and henna. The donations you give to each baker in exchange for baked goods and handcrafted items go to directly to the refugee women. Read More
