Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

I have found Christians to be giving people. The primary command of Jesus is to share God’s love with the world around us. When we give of ourselves we demonstrate Jesus’ ideal for how the Christian life should be lived. The short but punchy letter of I John says it this way, “How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” (3: 17-18). How we act and behave makes all the difference. So often the chuch is accused of too much talk and not enough action. It’s easy to aim criticism at the church and accuse us of hypocrisy if our words and our lives do not measure up. All of us have been guilty of this at some time or another.

We are invited to live Jesus’ words about love....

PVUMC Hosts Syrian Sweets Exchange 5.0 Sunday, October 1
Syrian Sweets Exchange Phoenix has partnered with PVUMC to host Syrian Sweets Exchange 5.0 on Sunday, October 1 . The event provides a chance to meet some of the Syrian refugees our own church has sponsored, and who are selling handcrafted items, as well as meet the bakers who sell homemade sweets to support their families. The event will also feature kid-friendly activities like balloon making, face painting and henna. The donations you give to each baker in exchange for baked goods and handcrafted items go to directly to the refugee women. Read More

Thank You from Pastor Eve
Dear PVUMC,
The last few months, and the transition for both my son and I, have been crazier than I could have imagined. Now, here we are, in the middle of September and I think we are finally beginning to feel a little bit settled. William is almost through the first quarter of his junior year and is preparing to get his driver’s license. Our animals seem to like the new house and I am reconnecting with people that I haven’t seen in 10 years. It’s a little surreal, but good...
