Why NAWIC?

Fellow NAWIC Members -

People often ask me why I put so much energy into NAWIC. The why is simple, and ties into my description of our Association as a beautiful mosaic. There is an association out there for any specialty one could possibly want. To me, that does not enhance my understanding or give me access to a range of perspectives. The diversity and reach of NAWIC is exactly what sparks my love for it. Just as we cannot build any construction project without every possible job title conceivable for the process, NAWIC cannot be NAWIC without each of us from our myriad of roles. In my work life, my roles have been clerk, unskilled labor, project site assistant, Certified Concrete Tester, project manager, estimator, and senior estimator. I appreciate the hard work and time necessary to become skilled at any position in our industry. I value people for the knowledge and skill they bring with them every day.

My NAWIC journey has been amazing; support, encouragement, learning, and genuine friendships. My journey is why I say NAWIC is one of the things that feeds my soul. Not everyone has been as fortunate in their journey; knowledge of that fires my resolve to keep moving forward. My overarching goal is to continue to strengthen our Chapters and Members, so we can be there to lift each other up throughout this industry.
