From Selfie to Self-Aware:

Seeing Beyond the Mirror

We live in a culture saturated with images. Every day, billions of selfies are taken, filtered, and shared. We spend more time than ever looking at ourselves through the lens of a camera, yet paradoxically, we may be seeing ourselves less clearly than ever. The mirror we hold up is often external—likes, comments, curated images—but the deeper mirror of self-awareness is harder to find, and harder still to sustain.

Psychologist and researcher Tasha Eurich has studied self-awareness extensively and uncovered a sobering truth: while 95% of people believe they are self-aware, only 10–15% actually are. That means most of us are walking around with blind spots we can’t see, repeating patterns we don’t recognize, and wondering why meaningful change feels so elusive. Her book Insight makes the case that self-awareness is not a luxury—it is the foundation for growth, effectiveness, and impact.

And yet, insight alone is not enough. To sustain awareness, we must embody it—in the choices we make, the way we regulate our emotions, and the courage with which we face both feedback and inner truth. This is the work of moving from selfie to self-aware, and it is at the heart of the upcoming webinar designed to guide leaders and change-makers into deeper clarity.

Emotional Reset (90 minutes)

Wednesday, October 8th - 90 min - 11 am EST

Drama is contagious but so is calm. In this session, you’ll learn how emotional reactivity spreads through teams—and how to interrupt the cycle before it takes hold. We’ll explore the PAUSE model, practice simple resets, and reflect on the triggers that pull us into drama. This session also introduces the Detach from Drama full program beginning October 8, with an expansive workbook to help leaders and coaches integrate the six intervention points into everyday practice.

Sustained change isn’t about the next quick fix—it’s about integrating new ways of leading into body, mind, and culture. This masterclass brings the framework from my upcoming book Sustaining Impact into practice. Designed for both coaches and leaders, you’ll explore how to move from clarity to commitment, and from momentum to renewal, in ways that last. Every so often, a book arrives that causes me to pause—not because it dazzles with new jargon, but because it clarifies something we all feel yet rarely name. Tasha Eurich’s Insight is one of those books.

Her research shines a spotlight on self-awareness: the foundation of leadership, growth, and impact. She reveals the surprising truth that while 95% of us believe we are self-aware, only 10–15% actually are. That gap explains so much of the exasperation we feel when working with leaders who cannot see their own blind spots. But Insight doesn’t leave us stuck in frustration—it shows us pathways forward.

What I appreciate most is Eurich’s balance of rigor and accessibility. She grounds her insights in data and case studies, yet the stories feel close to home. She reminds us that self-awareness has two dimensions: the internal mirror of knowing ourselves and the external mirror of understanding how others experience us. Too often, we lean toward one and neglect the other. Eurich helps us see why both matter.

Founders Corner: The Evolution of Global IOC

I spent the summer reimagining and revisioning. What began as four core coach development offerings has now grown into 26 opportunities to connect, learn, and lead.

Why the expansion? Because coaching—and the leaders who practice it—are evolving. Organizations need more than skill-building; they need spaces for connection, renewal, and embodied leadership. Over these past months, I listened closely to what our members, clients, and partners were asking for. The result is a Global IOC ecosystem that meets people where they are, with multiple entry points: from masterclasses and assessments, to sprints and labs, to advanced credentials and faculty-led experiences.

This isn’t just more programs. It’s a more layered pathway for growth. Whether you are an emerging leader learning to coach, a seasoned practitioner seeking advanced credentials, or an organization embedding coaching into culture, you’ll find a door that fits.

It also feels like the right moment to share exciting news on the publishing front. My book Detach from Drama will be available in stores by the end of September, followed quickly by Sustaining Impact: From Insight to Embodiment at the end of October. The trilogy will be complete in early January with the release of The Leadership ARC, A book that equips leaders to grow from the inside out, create cultures where people thrive, and shape systems that are resilient, responsive, and future-ready.

It feels like a milestone—one I never imagined when we launched with just four offerings in 2018. And yet, it also feels like a beginning. Because Global IOC has never been about programs or books alone. It’s about creating a movement of leaders and coaches who embody the impact they seek to sustain.

As I look at the months ahead, I’m both grounded and energized. The vision is clear: Global IOC is not just keeping pace with change, but helping shape it. And I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes us—together.
