31 March 2023

Dear Tory,

Peace and Greetings to you and HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S WEEKEND, APRIL 1ST ... No Kidding! Can you believe we're already in three months of 2022. It’s also Palm Sunday Weekend.

As we gather this Sunday for worship, we mark the end of the Lenten Season. A day that many Christians throughout the world remember, with Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, riding on the back of a donkey surrounded by the mass crowds, as palm branches were being thrown on the road before him, with shouts of Hosanna ringing in the air, welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem as a hero.

This Sunday also marks the beginning of what we know as Holy Week, a time when we commemorate the last days of Jesus’ life, and a time in which the warm welcome was received by the crowds, ultimately leading Jesus to the cross.

Holy week brings us from crowds yelling Hosanna, to crowds yelling Crucify Him. How quickly our hearts can lose hope! Hosanna is a word that means both "Save us" and You Save” Only the crucified one can truly take on the burdens of the world, and he does so even for those who cry, Crucify. What do you need to leave at the cross this week?

I invite you to join me this Sunday, April 2nd at 11:00AM, for worship at Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, where you are welcome just as you are and where we will go “From Shouting Hosanna to Shouting Crucify Him!”

Holy Week is also a time to recall the events that lead to the Last Supper and Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross. Join me and our Board of Directors, as we join together with our sisters and brothers from the participating congregations in the Southeast Clergy Association Maundy Thursday, April 6th (7:00pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church), where we will gather for a combined ecumenical worship, recognizing when Jesus gathered with his disciples, first washing their feet, but then breaking the bread as symbolism of his body and sharing the cup of his salvation

Join us again on Good Friday, April 7th (7:00pm at Christ Church United Church of Christ), where we join together again with our sisters and brothers from the participating congregations in the Southeast Clergy Association, where we will recall, when Jesus was arrested and crucified on the Cross, as we hear the Seven Last Words of Christ in this moving Good Friday ecumenical service. Details for both services can be found further down in this Weekly.

I want to remind you that this Sunday, we will receive and bless our 40 Day Lenten Challenge OfferingI hope each of you have prayerfully and joyfully given within your heart during Lent, to help boost and expand the ministries that we offer at Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church. This Sunday is also the last day to place your orders for Easter Lilies and Flowers for Easter Sunday. You can complete an order form either in person this Sunday, but you can also place your order online (see details below). It wouldn’t be triumphant, if we didn’t make the announcement of the Resurrection, as I invite you to join us for Easter Sunday Service, next Sunday at starting at 11:00am!

Last but not least, you’re invited to join us following worship, THIS Sunday, as we come together in fellowship for our Palm Sunday Lunch Fellowship. The Board of Directors invites you as their guests in joining them for a fun Potato and Salad Bar Lunch along with our monthly Birthday/Anniversary Cake for dessert.

There is once again, so much that is happening in the life of the church and as always, I Invite you to take a moment to scroll down to view these announcements and the many other special announcements, connected to the life of our congregation and community, as we continue to be the vibrant, inclusive, and progressive community of faith that we are.

As always, I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday Morning! May God’s blessings continue to be with each of you!

Hosanna! Hosanna in the Highest!

In Christ,

Scripture: Luke 19:41-46

Coming within sight of Jerusalem, Jesus wept over it and said, “If only you had known the path to peace today! But now it has been hidden from your eyes. Days

will come upon you when your enemies will encircle you with a rampart, hem you

in and press you hard from every side. They’ll wipe you out, you and your children within your walls, and won’t leave one stone on top of another within you, because you failed to recognize the time of your visit from God.” Then Jesus entered the Temple and began throwing out the vendors, saying, “Scripture says, ‘My Temple will be a house of prayer’—but you have made it a den of thieves!”

Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP

Holy week brings us from crowds yelling Hosanna, to crowds yelling Crucify Him. How quickly our hearts can lose hope! Hosanna is a word that means both "Save us" and You Save” Only the crucified one can truly take on the burdens of the world, and he does so even for those who cry, Crucify. What do you need to leave at the cross this week?

UFMCC LEAD Retreat

Church of the Trinity MCC

Sarasota, FL, USA

June 2-4, 2023

LEAD, Laity Empowered for Active Discipleship, is the UFMCC lay leader certificate program. Since its inception in 2011, there have been 12 North American LEAD cohort groups, as well as LEAD cohort groups in the UK, the Philippines, the European Network

and Australia. We now have 51 LEAD graduates following their call to lay ministry all over the world.

One of the exciting features about this retreat is that most of the expenses for the retreat will be covered by a fund set up by upRising MCC of Austin, TX, USA. Because of the fund, accepted retreat applicants will not pay the Retreat registration fee (normally $350). In addition, Church

of the Trinity will provide housing for participants with its church congregants and provide several

meals during the Retreat. Retreat participants will only need to pay for their travel, plus a $50 matriculation fee, to attend the retreat. In addition, all online courses that are required or are electives for completion of the LEAD program will be paid through the fund (a $600 value). The LEAD scholarship fund, The Judy Dale Scholarship for Lay Leadership, may be used to assist with other fees associated with course work or events necessary for the completion of the LEAD certificate requirements.

Applications will be processed on a “first come, first served” basis until May 1, or until 18 applicants have been accepted to attend the Retreat.

Applications can be found by clicking:

Applications
