From Strategy to Execution: DHA Data & AI Priorities for FY27

Thursday, September 17, 2026

LMI Headquarters

7940 Jones Branch Dr., Tysons, VA 22102

Please join the HIMSS National Capital Area (NCA) next Thursday, September 17th for a fireside chat with Dr. Jesus Caban, Chief Data and Analytics Officer (CDAO) and Deputy Director of the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

We look forward to a candid, one-on-one conversation with Dr. Caban as he lays out where DHA’s data and AI strategy is heading in FY27 — and, more importantly, how the agency intends to execute it. Building directly on the momentum from DHITS, this session continues the conversation, picking up where those discussions left off with fresh updates on DHA’s data and analytics priorities and the audience’s questions there wasn’t time to cover.

Dr. Caban will share DHA’s perspective on turning health data into operational advantage across the Military Health System, the road ahead for enterprise analytics and AI, and how the federal health IT community can engage and contribute. Come ready with your questions for an extended, interactive Q&A.

Early bird registration closes Monday, Sept. 14 at 12:00pm ET.

Spotlight on Our Charitable Partner: Community of Hope

This year, HIMSS NCA has selected Community of Hope as our charitable partner. Community of Hope is dedicated to improving health outcomes and advancing equity for underserved families across Washington, DC. Through integrated primary care, maternal and child health, behavioral healthcare, and housing support, they ensure patient-centered care is accessible to all—regardless of circumstance.

Importantly, Community of Hope leverages telehealth and digital health tools to extend high-quality virtual medical and mental health care directly to families facing transportation, childcare, or scheduling barriers. By utilizing technology to expand access, ensure continuity of care, and improve health equity, Community of Hope’s work directly reflects HIMSS NCA’s mission to optimize health outcomes through information, technology, and collaboration in our local community.

We’ve set an ambitious goal to raise $1,500 to support Community of Hope’s vital programs. You can make a direct donation to our fundraiser via this link.
