November 2020
We hope you enjoy this month's highlights of our impact and mission in action!
Dear Friend,

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a week away! As challenging as 2020 has been, we still find that we have so much for which to be grateful. Indeed, for all the surprises that 2020 had in store for us, one welcome surprise was how our community, friends, donors, and staff have rallied to support our kids and families!  For that we are truly thankful.

In this spirit of thanks, next week we will continue in our Club's custom of providing both Thanksgiving Baskets (meal kits) and a hot Thanksgiving Dinner to families (take-out style). At a time when our world is different in just about every way, these traditions that focus on family and comfort foods mean that much more. These efforts are made possible by our generous volunteers, donors, board members, Keystone Club teens and staff.

This November, we are also upholding our tradition of participating in #GivingTuesday, which falls on December 1st this year. All gifts made during this international day of giving, support the Club’s annual fund and gives us the resources to support our kids and families regardless of what comes our way.

As you can see, we have much to celebrate, and the holidays are just beginning. I hope you will join us as we continue to support our local kids. In the meantime, wishing each of you a joyful Thanksgiving holiday filled with love and friendship.

Gratefully,

A Few Tricks that Made Halloween a Treat!

There are few things that children look forward to more than a day dedicated to candy, costumes, and spooky stories. This year, to ensure safety, our creative staff and Keystone teens transformed our customary Spook Alley event into a haunted house on wheels, which traveled to each of our afterschool sites on October 30th.

The Art of Holiday Shopping

For many of us, the Thanksgiving weekend marks the beginning of holiday shopping season. Indeed, the bargains begin before the last piece of pie is served! This year, we hope that you will keep the Club and our kids in mind as the holiday spirit takes hold.

For something utterly unique, consider a hand-crafted gift made by one of our Club kids. During this season of giving and celebration, our tweens are reminding us how blessed we are here in Locust Valley through their Torch Club Holiday Art Sale.

Santa is Coming to Town

Once again, this year Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club will be doing its best to ensure that all its families have a wonderful holiday despite the craziness of this year through Operation Santa

This project is lovingly coordinated by our Board Chair, Susan Carusi, and this year, volunteers have signed up to help 90 children have a merry and bright holiday. These volunteers are fulfilling wishlists of toys, games, clothing, and so much more to GBBGC.

Of course, the needs of our children and families exist all year long. If you'd like to support families during the holidays and beyond, please consider a gift to our annual fund.
