As you know, a University-wide task force of faculty and staff was convened in early 2020 to study and propose recommendations on a remote proctoring solution for exams offered online. While recognizing that some programs and courses that utilize traditional exams may need a solution for online proctoring, the task force recommended that whenever possible, alternative methods of assessment should be the default method at CUNY.
In this webinar, a panel of CUNY faculty experienced in the use of alternative student assessments will:
- share some of the alternative methods of student assessments they’ve used
- offer advice on moving from exams to alternative methods of assessment
- share tips for the implementation and use of alternative methods of assessment
- answer questions from participants
The panel of experts will feature:
- Linda Bradley, Assistant Professor, New York City College of Technology, Department of Nursing
- Romi Kher, Assistant Professor, Baruch College, Department of Management
- Amit Mehrotra, Assistant Professor, New York City College of Technology, Department of Hospitality Management
- Rifat Salam, Associate Professor and Deputy Chair, BMCC, Department of Social Science, Human Services and Criminal Justice
RSVPs are not required. Please note that the maximum number of participants is 1,000; entrance to the webinar will be granted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
For any questions or concerns about this event, contact Dr. Annemarie Nicols-Grinenko, University Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, via [email protected]

This is an opportunity for you to experiment with daily writing in a supportive environment with a little daily dose of electronic love from the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD).
What is the 14-Day Writing Challenge?
The challenge is simple: write for at least 30 minutes every day (Monday through Friday) for two weeks. At the end of that time, you can evaluate for yourself:
- Did daily writing increase or decrease your productivity?
- Did participation in a community increase/decrease your enjoyment of the writing process?
Want to join the next 14-Day Writing Challenge?
The 14-Day Writing Challenge is open to NCFDD members. Join today and register!

Attention Lehman Community,
Due to the unfortunate recent spike in positive COVID test results in New York City - with an overabundance of caution - the Library has resolved to temporarily suspend its proposed November 16th Launch of Curbside Pickup of circulating books from its collection.
All conditions permitting: we hope to consider relaunching this pilot service at an appropriate time in 2021.
While we are disappointed with this development, please be assured that the health and safety of this community must always be our highest priority.
Thank you for understanding,
Kenneth Schlesinger
Associate Dean and Chief Librarian

The Lehman platform for the Library’s chat reference and e-mail services has changed. Working in conjunction with several CUNY libraries, the new version will provide enhanced services, user experience improvements, and better follow up features while still providing the same 24-7 chat coverage enjoyed in the past. The new software provides the option of creating a public knowledge base, which the Library will use to better share information about its services and events with the campus community. For more information, please contact Head of Reference Vanessa Arce Senati.
