Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year

Deadline Approaching Feb. 3, 2023

The Greater Los Angeles Area Council's Eagle Scout Association is seeking nominations from the Council's Eagle Scout Class of 2022 for the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award. The award recognizes the Scout for their Eagle Scout service project, one of the requirements for earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 2022 as a registered member of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council. An Eagle Scout, a parent, or any registered BSA volunteer (with the Eagle Scout's permission) may submit their Eagle Scout service project for consideration. All nominations must be received by 5pm on February 3rd, 2023.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills at Cabrillo

Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. 

BSA Fundamentals of Training coming to El Segundo

(January 29, 2023)

This course (D70)  introduces teaching techniques and skills so that any Scout or Scouter, regardless of their experience, can present effective training via a team-based learning model. This course is required for Pack Trainers and recommended for staff members of a District/Council-sponsored training event such as BALOO or IOLS. Scouts are welcome to participate but should have earned the rank of First Class or higher
