Vicki is inviting people who have lost a beloved pet to a gathering at the church on Thursday, April 23rd (time TBD) to learn about what was meaningful and helpful for them going through their beloved pet(s)’ death to inform her knowledge and understanding of how to support others.

Vicki Lea Paulson is inviting people who have lost a beloved pet to participate in a focus group to share their personal experience with the death of a pet:

  • What the experience was like for them
  • How they felt about it
  • How other people responded to them when they shared that their pet died (family, friends, colleagues, neighbors)
  • What was helpful
  • What wasn’t helpful
  • What would have been helpful

In the interest of everyone having an opportunity to share, the group will be limited to 10 people. If there is a need for a second group, one can be planned in the future.

Vicki is enrolled in a training program sponsored by Compassion Consortium to become an animal chaplain. An animal chaplain provides pastoral care for people who have pets and/or people who work with animals. At the conclusion of the program in June 2026, she plans to begin providing emotional and spiritual support to people going through health issues, loss, end-of-life, or other transitions with their beloved pet. In the future, she will facilitate a grief group. Participants are welcome to bring a photo or a memento of their pet.
