Rebecca Shares Her Story | Baby Boxes Blessed!

Hello Benjamin,

Our Signs of Hope Act, HB 478, passed out of the House Education Committee earlier this week!

The bill would raise awareness among college and high school students in Louisiana through school health clinics about assistance available to pregnant students.

Rebecca Bolen, the sister of our Communications Director, Sarah Zagorski, shared her powerful testimony of choosing life for her baby after discovering she was pregnant her senior year of high school.

• HB 575 to help victims of the abortion industry.
• HB 425 to criminalize abortion coercion.
• HB 478 to empower pregnant teens like Rebecca!

During Rebecca's teen pregnancy, she faced seemingly insurmountable challenges: she was kicked out by her foster parents, lost her job, and was in a bad car accident.

However, thanks to the support of her school and determination to finish high school, she graduated on time with the rest of her high school class. Please take two minutes to watch a clip of her testimony below!

Nicole Woods, the Director of the Women's Resource Center in Natchitoches, also testified how she was a pregnant college student but is now serving pregnant women through her center. Because the bill requires spending state funds to print signs and brochures, the Signs of Hope Act must now pass the House Appropriations Committee.

Yesterday, two new Safe Haven Baby Boxes in Slidell and Covington were blessed and opened! The above video is WDSU's news segment from last night! The installation of these boxes marks a significant step toward protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes are temperature-controlled, secure devices installed on the outside of a hospital or fire station allowing parents to anonymously and legally surrender their newborn baby if they are in a desperate situation.

We were grateful to help lead legislation to allow baby boxes and financially support the box in Covington. We are grateful to everyone who made this possible — including city leaders, first responders, local organizers, St. Tammany Right to Life, and our generous donors.

Louisiana Right to Life’s Youth Program, PULSE, is hosting two upcoming Pro-Life Festivals that we invite teens and young adults to attend! Both events will consist of free dinner, games, education and a pro-life service event. 

On April 26th and 27th, pro-life volunteers collaborated to support moms and babies by engaging the New Orleans community in collecting baby supplies for our May 10th and 31st Diaper Distribution.
