Shelter Appreciation Week and big dogs seeking quiet homes

It’s National Shelter Appreciation Week, and the Town is celebrating the dedicated staff, volunteers, partners, adopters and fosters who support the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre. The shelter serves as the intake shelter for all stray dogs and cats in Georgina, East Gwillimbury, Newmarket and Aurora. So far this year, 113 animals have been reunited with their families and 262 pets have found their forever homes.

Some of the shelter’s largest dogs are still waiting for their perfect match. These gentle giants thrive in calm, pet-free homes without young children, where they can bond with patient, caring adopters. If you’re not ready to adopt, you can still help by providing a temporary foster home. Visit the shelter in Keswick to meet these amazing dogs and learn more about fostering or adoption at georgina.ca/ShelterVolunteer.
