You Gave Love to the Snowbank Kitties!

Greetings!

We are delighted to share the happiest ending for Sprout and Bud, the two extremely lucky kitties rescued from different snowbanks this winter. They found each other in their healing journey, and have now found their forever family.

Please enjoy this update from their new mom, who brought them home to foster at first, and quickly finalized the adoption. We all love happy endings, and we know these kids have captured hearts and minds all over Windham County.

This story is possible because of your love and support. Thank you so much to everyone who donated to help these kitties heal.

"We originally planned to foster-to-adopt Bud and Sprout, just to make sure they were a good fit.

But it didn’t take long before we realized there was no way we could ever give these two up. They are already part of our family.

Both kittens came to the humane society after being found separately in snowbanks, nearly frozen to death. Because of the frostbite and injuries they suffered, each of them had to have part of their tails amputated.

It’s heartbreaking to think about the start they had in life, but they are now safe, warm, and very loved in their forever home.

What has been especially beautiful to watch is how quickly they connected with our girls.

My oldest daughter lost her cat last July. He had a known heart condition, so we always knew our time with him might be limited, but his passing was still very sudden and happened much younger than we expected. She has missed him deeply, especially the quiet companionship he gave her every day.

Almost immediately, literally within minutes, Bud, the gray tabby, chose her as his person. He follows her everywhere, curls up next to her, and seems completely devoted to her already.

And Sprout, our little black kitty, reminds me so much of my old cat Nori. Nori died of cancer when I was just a week postpartum with my youngest daughter, which made that loss feel especially heavy.

But Sprout bonded with my youngest right away. Watching the two of them together feels strangely comforting, almost like Nori reaching from somewhere beyond to let me know that our family is together again.

After such a cold and difficult start to their lives, Bud and Sprout are now surrounded by warmth, love, and a home that will always be theirs."
