NO MAN

Is an Island

"Compassion is the keen awareness of the interdependence of all things."

-- Thomas Merton

No man is an island,

No man stands alone,

Each man's joy is joy to me,

Each man's grief is my own.

We need one another,

So I will defend,

Each man as my brother,

Each man as my friend.

John Donne, clergyman and poet, reminds us so beautifully in a sermon he gave over 400 years ago that "no man is an island"...no one in this world should exist alone... we all need a commuity or a group of people to have a better life. We need one another.

Mission and Outreach

We have learned the importance of building and maintaining relationships with organizations in the community. We can serve more people, and be better informed about the needs in the community and we can reach a more diversified group. When Boys and Girls Club of Bluffton was looking for Christmas decorations this month, teams starting gathering up garlands, wreaths and Christmas trees. It will be a pleasure to share these gifts with Boys and Girls Club and be a part of their Children's "Christmas Drive Thru" this year.

We also had the opportunity this week to help with furniture donations to Family Promise of Beaufort County. A young family of 3 is transitioning out of the shelter program and we were able to provide them with a table and 4 chairs. We are avid supporters of their temporary shelter program and housing solutions for homeless families with children in Beaufort County with pass through goods and furniture from the store.

Did you know that when we receive donations of medical equipment, we share those donations with Lowcountry Presbyterian Church for their Medical Equipment Closet, a centralized lending closet for anyone in the community needing medical equipment like walkers, canes, crutches.

Proceeds from God's Goods Fund Hurricane Relief

Samaritan's Purse

Hurricane Relief Efforts

I want to thank The Church of the Cross for your ongoing partnership with the ministry of Samaritan's Purse.

We recently received your gift for US Disaster Relief/Hurricane Ian. Having just come back from volunteering with our teams on the ground there, I can tell you that the needs are great (see attached photos). Please pray for Peggy, an older lady we got to serve (mud-out her home, pull out soggy sheetrock and sub-flooring, haul damaged belongings to the curb). She is overwhelmed, and I was able to hear her story, pray for her, and share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with her. May the Holy Spirit continue to draw her to Himself.

We are currently working in Fort. Myers, Punta Gorda, and Englewood. The latest figures indicate that over 200 people have come to trust the Lord Jesus as their Savior! Here is a Thank You video that I hope encourages you and your people:
