Northern Rockies Roundtable and Facilitation
In 2018, the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations, and Rural Development established the Northern Rockies Roundtable. However, due to recent ministry reorganization and considerations of staff capacity, the Province decided to withdraw resources for co-chairing the Roundtable. NRRM staff sought direction from the Regional Council regarding the future of their involvement with the Roundtable and whether further actions, such as corresponding with the Ministry, were necessary. A motion was proposed and approved, indicating that the NRRM should support the NR Roundtable with a level of staff time determined by the staff themselves. This decision signifies the council's agreement to continue supporting the Roundtable while granting staff flexibility in managing their time.

Chamber of Commerce Tradeshow Requests 2024
The Fort Nelson Chamber of Commerce Annual Trade Show traditionally occurs on the first weekend of May at the Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre (NRRRC). Historically, the Chamber received a $1,000 grant-in-aid from the NRRM to offset facility rental fees. The NRRM also historically purchased one or more booths at the Tradeshow. Regional Council approved, in principle, exempting the Recreation Centre Rental fees for the 2024 Trade Show, amounting to $5,784.75.

Communications Coordinator provided an overview of disappointing uptake and participation in community engagement efforts. Despite efforts to provide informative materials and engage with the public, there has been limited response. Some speculate that either people don't care or trust how funds are being utilized. Suggestions were made to redirect efforts towards events like the Farmer's Market, where more engagement was observed for other NRRM engagements. Additionally, suggestion of forming a focus group early in the process and implementing surveys at key points during budget planning were proposed as strategies to improve community involvement.
