Dear Democrats,

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day last Monday and took time to honor those in the Labor Movement who fought for employee rights and those who are continuing the fight today. Meanwhile we have a president who has exploded the deficit to give his Mar-a-Lago buddies a tax break, gutted workplace safety protections, and failed to negotiate an additional coronavirus relief package for thousands of Floridians still unemployed because of his ineffective coronavirus response. The contrast between Donald Trump and Joe Biden couldn't be clearer.

This week will again be filled with campaign activities across the state as we count down to Election Day, and Vice President Joe Biden will be back in Florida on Tuesday, making stops to meet with veterans in Tampa and Hispanic leaders in Kissimmee (wearing masks and observing safety and health recommendations, unlike Trump and the Republicans). Check the news for details.

The polls are tightening, as we always knew they would -- this is Florida! Every vote will matter and every bit of work you are doing will be key to winning the margins we need to carry Florida for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and our Sunshine Slate. Watch the polls, but avoid getting on the "pollercoaster!" Let's put our heads down and keep doing the work needed to flip Florida Blue and win a decisive victory on November 3 -- now 50 days away. That's 1 month and 21 days to send Trump packing and put a true leader and advocate for workers in the White House!
Forward,
Terrie Rizzo

Vote by Mail
The great news continues! As of Monday, 2,282,63 Florida Democrats are enrolled to Vote by Mail (VBM) compared to 1,550,215 Republicans, expanding our historic VBM enrollment lead to 732,248!

In 2016, Dems had an 8,800 VBM enrollment margin and lost by 112,000 votes. In 2018, Dems had 48,000 VBM enrollment margin and lost by 10,000 votes. Tens of thousands of volunteers have given hundreds of thousands of hours to help us reach our 2020 record enrollment margin. But this doesn't mean we have won. We must continue to enroll our supporters to VBM, educate these new enrollees on how to successfully VBM, and turn out every allied voter.

Important VBM dates:
  • September 19 - ballots mailed to absent stateside and overseas voters
  • September 24 - ballots begin being mailed in state
  • October 5 - deadline to register to vote
  • October 12 - ballots can begin to be canvassed
  • October 24, 5 p.m. - deadline to request ballot be mailed to voter
  • November 3, 7 p.m. - SOE must receive completed ballots from in-state and absent stateside voters
  • November 5, 5 p.m - deadline to cure ballots with signature mismatches
  • November 13 - SOE must receive completed ballots from overseas voters
Voter Education
This year's election is unlike any other we have faced. There will be many first-time voters and many voters voting by mail for the first time. To help mobilize these voters to elect Democrats up and down the ticket, we have launched a new Voter Education program. From now until Election Day, FDP will provide a weekly voter education message to share on social media.

This week’s message is focused on Vote-by-Mail sign up and includes a VBM educational video featuring State Representative Dan Daley and gun safety activist Fred Guttenberg. Please use the sample tweets & posts and share the VBM Sign-Up Social Media Toolkit with your Democratic networks!
Meet the Sunshine Slate
To introduce voters to our new Sunshine Slate, we have launched a twice weekly "Meet the Candidates" series. On Tuesdays we'll focus on a constituency group, and on Thursdays we'll focus on a geographical region.

On Tuesday, September 15 at 6 p.m. ET, we'll be talking to veteran candidates from across the state about the community issues at stake in the November election. Register for the event here and help us spread the word to allow voters to get to know these candidates:

  • Andrew Learned, House District 59
  • Lloyd Dabbs, House District 52
  • Dave Rodgers, House District 17
  • Scott Hottenstein, House District 57

On Saturday, October 3 at 10 a.m. ET, we are calling on volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish to sign up for our Down Ballot Election Hispanic Outreach Day of Action /Día de Acción! We will kick off the day with a Zoom meeting with a special guest to be announced soon.
