Florida Democrats,

Our justice system was put to the test this week. On Wednesday, the Florida Supreme Court held oral arguments to determine whether or not to allow the abortion ballot initiative to make it onto the November ballot.

Now, the court has until April 1st to make a decision after over 1.4 million Democrats, Republicans, and Independents came together and signed a petition for this referendum to make it onto the ballot. The Justices also have yet to indicate whether they will uphold the 15-week abortion ban, which will trigger the 6-week ban.

Florida Democrats – there’s a lot at stake, and we’re going to make sure that we’re ready to organize and fight back for whatever decision is made.

This coming week, we are kicking off our Black History Month tour starting with a press launch and Day of Action on Saturday, February 17 in South Florida. The tour will stop in six counties across the state and focus on re-engaging Black inactive voters.

On Wednesday, we’ll observe the 6th anniversary of the Parkland shooting. On behalf of everyone at the Florida Democratic Party, I send my love to the families and all who lost someone on this terrible day six years ago.

May we continue to honor them with action.

Thank you.
Nikki Fried

In order to maintain compliance with Florida Statutes and FDP Bylaws, your DEC needs to submit documents to both your county Supervisor of Elections (SOE) office and the Florida Democratic Party.

Please review all of the below information for next year's compliance process. You can also see a breakdown of requirements and due dates here:

If your DEC failed to submit the compliance requirements below you must have them submitted to the Office of Party Affairs ASAP or risk being found out of compliance.

January 31, 2024: Completed Party Leader Template with DEC information, Party officer details, office and mailing addresses, website, and social media links.

January 31, 2024: A complete and updated DEC membership list (names, addresses, and DEC/Precinct positions are required).

January 31, 2024: Your county must complete a Diversity and Inclusion plan for your DEC.

February 28, 2024: Current DEC bylaws showing the date they were approved or amended.
*Note: Counties should also be working on updating their bylaws to reflect the new way we will elect State Committee Members. View FDP Bylaws Here.
Please email your documents to partyaffairs@floridadems.org.
NDTC + Florida Democratic Party

The National Democratic Training Committee is excited to partner with the Florida Democratic Party to provide FREE training to Democratic candidates, campaign staff, and local leaders.

As the largest Democratic campaign training organization in the nation, we have trained more Democrats on how to win elections and build long-term power than any other organization.
Voter Registration

We are rolling out our 2024 VR Toolkit with information on our strategy and organizing framework. This toolkit will provide you with the tools, information, guidance you will need to execute your voter registration programs. This is a document that will be under revision throughout the cycle as we add more guidance and resources for the benefit of our counties. If you would like to have something added to the toolkit, please e-mail our VR Director to connect on this. We encourage knowledge sharing across our state, so we welcome your input! E-mail: Kris@floridadems.org.
Please use this Mobilize VR Event Template to create your Voter Registration events for 2024. Our next Day of Action will be February 17! Please coordinate in your counties and use the event template on Mobilize to start recruiting volunteers.
FEBRUARY: Inactive Democrats

Please join Rep. Anna V. Eskamani, the FDP Team and volunteers from across the state for our monthly VR Phone Bank. We’re focusing on Inactive Democrats for February. We will be calling Democratic voters who are registered but have been placed in the inactive category by their elections office, have voted in the General 2020 election, were enrolled in vote-by-mail previously, and have not re-enrolled. You will be able to call voters in your zip code.
