At just 17 years old, Juan has achieved something extraordinary: he earned a full ride scholarship to California State University, Fullerton from the Brent Shapiro Foundation!

Juan was chosen for his dedication and achievements at Brent’s Club, and his story is really one of perseverance, heart, and hope.

The Harriet H. Samuelsson Teen Center has been Juan’s second home for the past four years. He’s there nearly every day, balancing his passion for boxing with his schoolwork, all while keeping a perfect 4.0 GPA.

He says the Club has shaped him into “a better person who is more responsible and open to learning new skills.”

Juan’s parents, who are farmworkers, have always inspired him to work hard and dream big.

He carries their sacrifices with him and is determined to make them proud.

With the Club behind him, Juan has stayed focused, grown in confidence, and jumped at new opportunities. His success isn’t just his, it’s a reflection of his family, his community, and the belief that every young person deserves a shot at their dreams.

I couldn’t be prouder of Juan, and I’m so grateful to the amazing partners who make opportunities like this possible by believing in our members just as much as I do.

With deep gratitude,

Erin Antrim
