Welcome to our summer edition of the PAACC Airport Area newsletter. I continue to find the growing optimism through new development projects and new businesses a clear picture of our future in the airport area. Take a few minutes and read through this issue because there is no slowing down with the PIT International TMP, infrastructure improvements and a growing residential population second to none in Western Pennsylvania.
Our municipal focus for this issue is the historic community of North Fayette Township. A sprawling airport community that shares multiple common borders with adjoining airport communities and has stood proud and vibrant since 1846. At the center of our community here in the airport area North Fayette’s population and businesses continues to move forward with growth and expansion in all sectors. Back in 2016 the North Fayette Community Center at Donaldson Park opened its doors with the assistance of the PAACP. Today, development projects include multiple health care and food service buildouts, infrastructure projects connecting residents and the flow of traffic with its amenities.
With a housing “boom” continuing in this vibrant community there are plans to build 320 residential units on 125 acres at Donaldson Road near North Branch. To help educate those fortunate enough to live, work and play here North Fayette Township is part of the West Allegheny School District and home to Pittsburgh Technical College, Community College of Allegheny County – West Hills campus. It all comes together with outstanding leadership at the top as my good friend Jim Morosetti, Chairman Board of Supervisors and J.R. Mangan, Township Manager steering this “ship” through rough waters from the past to an incredible future of opportunity and contrasting yet compatible features for all.
