On March 18th, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald presented his annual “State of the County Address” to hundreds of airport area business owners, executives, and residents of our community. What surprised many in attendance was that airport corridor census data showed positive growth for residential areas in Moon, Findlay, Robinson and Kennedy townships.
The data, according to the Chief Executive, highlights our part of the county and the additional opportunities coming to our area. “It shows that these are people that have moved here”, Fitzgerald said. “Decided to pick up and come to our county, most likely for a job. The opportunities that we see around technology, energy, robotics, movies, art, life sciences and all the things that were diversified industrially across the job market.”
We are responding to the numbers. One example is Moon Township, and in particular, developer Burns Scalo Real Estate. Their dynamic new workspaces are being built to help bring together the essential elements for a vibrant community in their newest community Diamond Ridge. With 120 townhome units, 325 single-family lots, 400 multifamily units, 335 apartments and 15,000 sq. ft. of Experiential retail, not to mention the 3-Building Class “A” campus, 500,000 sq. ft. of New Day office space.
We are well ahead in preparing for the opportunities that are on the horizon here in our airport community.
