Shelby County Community,

Welcome to our June newsletter!

This month, we’re celebrating Pride, commemorating Juneteenth, and wishing Happy Father's Day to the fathers in our community. As we continue moving our office forward, I’m excited to share updates on our CLEAR initiative partnership with the University of Memphis' Center for Community Research and Evaluation (CCRE). This first of its kind initiative, the latest element of my modernization agenda for our office, will allow us to provide more clear and accessible case data to customers and community partners. In coming newsletters, we'll be sharing progress on digitizing expungements, expanding Civil e‑filing, and more.

You’ll also see us out in the community more often through our Summer Community Engagement Pop‑Up Series, leading up to a big Summer Bash in August. We’ve been having a blast hosting our Shelby County Youth Summer Interns, who are already making an incredible impact during their summer of #CampBigClurk.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our youth with lunches and professional attire. We’ve got a big summer ahead! Read on to learn more and follow us on social media to stay connected!

In Service,

Tamara A. Sawyer

Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk

General Sessions Partner in Shelby County’s First Unified Justice Data System

The General Sessions Court Clerk’s Office is a partner in CLEAR—a groundbreaking collaboration made possible through the University of Memphis Center for Community Research and Evaluation (CCRE), the Shelby County Board of Commissioners and strengthened by the Interagency Justice Operations Workgroup. For the first time, residents will have access to connected data from jails, courts, and prosecutors in one place.

I
nnovation and access are core values for our office, and CLEAR helps residents follow their cases with greater confidence.

General Sessions Youth Summer Interns Are Making an Impact!

Our Shelby County Youth Summer Interns are already making their mark. From observing courtroom operations to supporting data entry and helping strengthen our public communications, these young professionals are bringing energy and real value to the General Sessions Court Clerk’s Office.

We’re deeply grateful to our partners across Shelby County Government for hosting the Early Childhood and Youth Internship Program—and to our community for being the village, providing lunches, encouragement, and professional attire. Your support is helping these interns spread their wings and step confidently into their future careers.
