Sachs Sentinel Special Edition:

Happy Father's Day

Dear Friends, Neighbors and Fathers,

Our dads – they sheltered us, supported us, were always there to give us a shoulder to cry on.

Maria with her Dad Russell (Circa 1956)

The duty of a father is not just to support and shelter, but to show us that there is no height we cannot reach, no ambition so impossible that we cannot claim it, no job that we cannot own it.

Our fathers were there to give us roots and wings.

"Father" does not necessarily mean a biological one. It could be a Rabbi, a Priest, an Imam, a coach, a big brother – these are all our fathers.

Whether your Dad was the strong, silent type or the gregarious party guy, he was your Dad – and you knew you were lucky to have him.

Dad is the one you went to when you were in trouble – and he helped.

Dad is the one you went to when you needed money – and he never hesitated.

Dad is the one you went to when you were confused – and he gave advice.

Maria's father, Lt. Col. Russell F. Lorts (dec), United States Army Infantry - WWII and Vietnam.

Maria's Husband, Peter, and Father in Law, Sam Sachs.

Today is the day we not only honor Dad, but thank him for being there when we needed him.

The best way to show our gratitude is to be the shining example of what we know our Dad would be proud of – whether living or passed, related to us or not – to be who we have become because of him.

Thanks to all the Dads on your special day.

Now, let’s go enjoy it.

Very Truly Yours,

Maria Sachs
