COVID-19 Vaccination Rollout at Kings Point A Success
With 24 hours notice to prepare for a visit by the Governor and a roll-out of 500 vaccinations, Kings Point Golf and Country Club met the challenge.

In a prototype of how mass vaccinations can be fairly administrated through a Point of Distribution (POD) more than 1500 vaccinations were given to eligible seniors.

The process worked so well that the same method may be tried at other large senior communities. The vaccination program is a private/public partnership coordinated with medical providers, Points of Distribution with an established infrastructure, and EMS officers to disperse, register and administer the vaccine to our vulnerable seniors in the most efficient and safe manner.

Governor DeSantis' office is responsible for the receiving and distributing the COVID-19 vaccine throughout the Florida's 67 counties. He has determined that seniors 65 and older are a priority to receive the vaccine.

Cautions that no
one should panic
There are enough vaccines for everyone. There is absolutely no reason to panic or worry that the supply will run out before every single person in our county who wants the vaccine will receive it.
SKI LAKE UPDATE
Over 250 residents signed up for a zoom meeting with Commissioner Maria Sachs.  Co-hosting the meeting with the commissioner were members of the County's legal team, headed by Assistant County Attorney Shannon Fox, Esq, the Dir. of Planning, Zoning & Building, Ramsay Bulkeley, Esq. and Code Enforcement Officer Richard Padgett. The Meeting was attended by members of COBWRA, Valencia Reserve residents, the media, the legal team at Valencia Reserve as well as any interested parties to this contentious issue.

The meeting was to update residents on what Palm Beach County (PBC) has done and continues to do to address the construction activity in our Agricultural Reserve at the West Boynton Ranches, LLC. property, more commonly referred to as the water ski park.

To recap: PBC has issued four (4) Stop Work Orders, not just one; and we have issued a total of 16 Notices of Violations (four for each of the identified parcels) for multiple violations of the Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) and Florida Building Code to West Boynton Ranches principals and their attorneys. Last week, the Contractor Certification Division also issued multiple citations to the construction employees/contractor(s).

"You have my commitment that all stakeholders will be represented in the end result as the County proceeds to prosecute its claims in Administrative Court on Jan 21, 2021."

Additional $500 to be Allocated for Approved CARES Act Food Assistance Applications

As of Dec. 29, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, through its Community Services Department (CSD), will add $500 to all approved CARES Act food applications to help those impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. No action is needed from approved clients.

Under the CARES Act, Palm Beach County issued pre-paid debit cards to approved residents to purchase food for households that were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to apply, clients had to present evidence their household was adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic including supporting documentation to prove income eligibility. Only one card was issued per household.

Food assistance was based on household size. The new amounts including the additional funds are listed below:
·      1-2 household members:                   $900
·      3-4 household members:                   $1,300
·      5 or more household members:        $1,500

For clients who have pre-paid card balances of $100 and higher, their cards will automatically be reloaded with the additional $500, and new cards will not be issued. Clients who have card balances at or below $100 will receive new cards in the mail.

Pre-paid debit cards approved on and after Dec. 21 will include the $500 additional benefit.
