On Sunday, our four Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County Youth of the Year teens, Club staff, parents, and I embarked on a journey to Guatemala where we'll be working throughout the week to give back to local communities.

So far, we've spent time with students from Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans, an organization with a mission closely aligned with Boys & Girls Clubs. We've participated in their swim lessons, sat in their English classes, and assisted with homework help. We'll be continuing our work with Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans throughout the remainder of our trip and have contributed donations that will allow the organization to complete their local library.

Today, we had the opportunity to travel to San Marcus Pacoc to build powerless stoves for village families by assisting a local mason with laying bricks, carrying materials, measuring sites, and mixing cement.

It's been such an inspiration to watch these teens dedicate their spring break to these underserved youth and communities, and I am proud to spread our Boys & Girls Clubs mission abroad!
