 Secretary's Pen

Jan. 2023

What a perfect way to kick off the new year by sharing the wonderful things your club does in the community to help others.

It's time to enter the 2023 Signature Project contest.

Think about what your Kiwanis club is known for in your community. It can be a service project or a fundraiser. Signature projects:

  • Are recurring. (Note: A new project can qualify as a signature project if the intent is to continue the project.)
  • Enhance the Kiwanis image.
  • Demonstrate significant impact on the community in terms of monies raised or children served.
  • Strengthen membership and partnership opportunities.

Submissions will be accepted from January 9-27. District leadership will judge the entries and select which ones will advance to the international level. Finalists will be honored, and winners announced, at the 2023 Kiwanis International Convention.

District Support for Kiwanis Amplify

The District will once again provide financial support for 10 district members to take part in this excellent leadership development program. We will reimburse 50% of the registration fee at registration and the remaining 50% upon completion.

Please share this information with your members and encourage them to apply.

Learn more about Kiwanis Amplify, including links to upcoming webinars. There's also a helpful list of resources to help promote the program.

Registration closes in March and the program begins April 3.

Just a shout out to those of you who file your club's monthly reports promptly. They really give an idea of what's happening in the District.

If you need a hand filing a report or a refresher on navigating the Member Portal, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Projects Worth Celebrating!

Remember, send reports of your club's projects with details and photos. I'll send them on to KI for consideration in the Kiwanis magazine or share in a future newsletter or on our social media. We need to share more of what Canadian clubs are doing for kids in their communities.
