Forward Day by Day Features
Dr. Jay U. Howington

Jay Howington began sharing a daily devotional by email to friends when he was going through a rough time. That was five years ago and now the number of subscribers has reached 350. One of them was the Rev. A. L. Addington, who reached out to Forward Day by Day suggesting Howington as an author.

Readers during the month of June have had the pleasure of moving through the scriptures daily, led by Howington.

"It's a way to keep my feet to the fire," he said, "it keeps me accountable. Daily quiet time is essential, as they say: when you miss it, on the first day God knows; on the second, you do, and by the third, everyone else does."

A 15-year member of St. Peter's Savannah, Howington has served on the vestry twice and also as Senior Warden.

And by the way, as he says, "I work as a neurosurgeon, but what I am is a Christian."

The funeral for the Rev. Dudley Lippitt, Deacon, who died on April 27, will be held at 2 PM this Saturday, June 15th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 212 N. Jefferson Street, Albany.
In a letter sent to the clergy in the Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Scott Anson Benhase said, "Deacon Dudley Lippitt was one of the first female deacons ordained in the Diocese of Georgia, and while that is an important fact for the history of our Diocese, her ministry to the lonely, lost, and left out exceeds that milestone. For 15 years she served as a Deacon in the Church and during her active diaconate she ministered to the sick and needy, fed hungry people at the Shepherd's Table, and assisted in the establishment and ongoing work of an HIV/AIDS support group at a time when many people's view of such work was tentative at best and prejudicial at worst. Deacon Lippitt persisted in caring for people suffering from the scourge of HIV/AIDS without regard to public opinion. She did it because it was the Lord's work. Such is the ministry of a deacon of the Church."
