BLUE & GOLD BULLETIN - JANUARY 29, 2016
|
From the Headmaster
Dear Lancers,
I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas season with family and friends and that the New Year is off to a great start. With the new year comes the start of a new semester and the shocking realization that the school year is already halfway done. It also means that we are getting early word on college acceptances. I am consistently impressed by the schools to which our young men are accepted, and though still early, this year's list is truly outstanding. Among the list of colleges and universities that have accepted members of the Class of 2016 are Amherst College, Harvard, Fordham, The United States Naval Academy, and West Point. We expect many more success stories in the upcoming weeks and months, and I look forward to sharing the complete list with you later this year.
There are many reasons that Malden Catholic students are so successful. Our teachers and students work together to ensure this success. Inspired by our Xaverian tradition, we strive to build enduring personal relationships among students and between students and their teachers. This caring support of one another allows each student to reach his highest potential. We also know that colleges look for a well-rounded student, active and engaged in a variety of activities. Our college acceptances are built not only on academic excellence, but the entire program offering here at Malden Catholic. Our service program, athletics and extra curricular program, and campus ministry all go together to create a well-developed young man that colleges seek out.
It is easy to be proud of the success of our students, and I am grateful for all who help make that success possible. There are moms and dads who encourage and support their sons throughout their Malden Catholic career. There are dedicated teachers who share their knowledge and experience on a daily basis. There are coaches, moderators, campus ministers, nurses and librarians who help our young men develop beyond the classroom. Finally, there are alumni and friends who, through their financial support, make the Malden Catholic experience possible. Together we as a community are making the future bright for these young men we serve. They are the reason for our being, and their success is our constant pride.
Warm regards,
Thomas J. Doherty III
Headmaster
