LOVE IN ACTION: WHAT TROY SCHOOL GAVE MY SON
Having my son attend TROY School was the best decision as a parent I've ever made. When your child attends TROY, not only do they get a great education, they get an extended family. The teachers and staff always go above and beyond not just to teach your child but they also give them a safe space to grow and express themselves.
We know that TROY students sometimes get a bad rap. When people found out I was sending Zane to TROY they would say, "he must be a troublemaker", or imply that if he wasn't already, he would be after attending TROY.
My reply has always been this:
I put Zane in TROY School because yes, he had some learning difficulties as a young child. He may not have always been on a straight and narrow path, but that is not the school's fault. If anything, TROY saved my son from going down a deeper, darker path. Zane's dad passed away during his first year at TROY. The whole school showed up for us. TROY had our backs in the darkest times of our lives. Zane went on to make some wrong choices over the next few years, but guess who still treated my son with kindness, love, respect and most of all like he still mattered? TROY ! If anything, they helped keep him from destroying his life. The teachers and staff at TROY show up for their students and I am so very thankful for that.
Becoming a single mom of a teenage boy is not for the faint of heart. I am very thankful to everyone at TROY School. There were times I felt like they were a second parent for Zane. The grace, the love they put into each and every student goes beyond words. Zane would have been far worse off without them. As a parent, I would have been far worse without them.
Thank you for the years of helping Zane grow and learn.
Much respect,
Melissia
