The 10-minute strategy

The basic strategic goal is simple enough: In an effort to increase access to quality healthcare for Northshore residents, St. Tammany Health System aims to put a primary care clinic within a 10-minute drive of everyone in its service district, which spans Western St. Tammany Parish.

On April 28, it moved one step closer to that goal, with the opening of a St. Tammany Physicians Network clinic at Money Hill, in the Bush/Waldheim area.

It is the health system’s sixth such clinic, joining those it already operates in Covington, North Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville and Folsom. (And that’s not even counting the pediatric clinics it operates in Mandeville and Madisonville, its Express Care walk-in clinic in Covington or its array of other specialty sites.)

Hey, we might not be able to be everywhere – but there’s nothing to stop us from trying.

The philosophy behind it all is simple. Where others think “if you build it, they will come,” at St. Tammany Health System our mind-set is more “if the community needs it, we will build it.”

After all, we were founded 70 years ago to bring world-class healthcare close to home for our Northshore friends and neighbors. All these decades later, it’s still very much what drives us every day.

Of course, we couldn’t do it without you, dear patient, and your trust in our team of doctors, nurses and other care providers.

For that, we are grateful, as always – and equally hopeful that you enjoy this latest batch of good news from our STHS newsroom.

Community Checkup

Between Nurses Week and Hospital Week, there’s a lot to celebrate this month at St. Tammany Health System – but those two annual observations are just the tip of the iceberg, as President and CEO Joan Coffman says in her latest video address to the community.

STHS butterfly release honors organ donors

Dozens of butterflies took wing recently from St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, part of a twin celebration recognizing National Organ Donation Month and expressing gratitude for the gift of life made every day by organ donors.

“In 2024, we here at St. Tammany Health System had the privilege of working with six organ donors, and 10 lives were saved through organ donations,” health system President and CEO Joan Coffman said in remarks delivered just before the butterfly release.

“We worked with 17 tissue donors, and 12,075 lives were enhanced by those tissue donors,” she continued. “In 2025 in the state of Louisiana, there were 303 organ donors, 883 organs transplanted, 752 tissue donors and 56,400 lives enhanced. This is amazing, you guys.”
