From the Principal...

Dear St. Norbert School Families,

There is much to be grateful for as we wrap up the second week of school. Welcoming the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students on Tuesday and Wednesday was wonderful.  The in-person students continued to adapt to the new building routines and be very conscientious with their mask wearing. The virtual students were diligent with their class attendance and participation. I commend all the students for continuing to be incredibly cooperative and patient.

I would also like to recognize all the teachers for embracing this new style of teaching two groups of students simultaneously. For many, the last two weeks have felt like the first year of teaching.  I have truly appreciated Mr. DeSimone as he has assisted the teachers and our virtual students navigate the technical glitches associated with the virtual learning mode.

Thank you for your feedback from last week’s Back to School Survey. The excitement about being back to school was especially gratifying. We are looking into different microphones for the teachers to use in the classrooms and adaptations are already being made in regards to mask breaks and recess routines. The Lower School teachers and Upper School homeroom teachers will be having all-class zooms next Monday so the students can meet one another ahead of the first Virtual Workday Wednesday. As a reminder, please make sure your child has a pair of ear buds or headphones/headset and brings them to school daily.

I would like to highlight recent information from the Centers for Disease Control regarding masks… the CDC does not recommend the use of gaiters. While evaluation of these face coverings is on-going, the effectiveness is unknown at this time. I ask that all students wear regular face masks while in school.

While we have accomplished much in the last two weeks, we need to remain very mindful that what has been achieved must be protected. I remind you to be very aware of activities and situations that may lead to exposure and infection. Continue to practice social distancing, good hand washing and hygiene, and mask wearing. If your child is showing signs of illness and/or fever, please have him/ her stay home. It is the shared commitment, sacrifice and good decision-making of our entire school community that will sustain in-person instruction for our students.

Blessings to your family,
Mrs. Hennessy
