Beloved St. Mark’s Community,

This month, our city and countless communities around the world are alive with color, music, and joy as we celebrate Pride a time to honor the sacred dignity of LGBTQ+ people and to give thanks for the beautiful diversity of God’s creation.

Pride is more than a celebration; it is a witness. A witness to love that will not be silenced, to courage that speaks truth, and to the deep truth that every person is created in the image of God worthy of belonging, safety, and joy.

At St. Mark’s, we are proud to be a house of prayer for all people. We celebrate the lives and gifts of our LGBTQ+ siblings, and we recommit ourselves to the work of justice, welcome, and accompanied not just during Pride month, but always.

We invite you to join us in prayer, in presence, and in participation. Come walk with us in the Pride March, sing in the liturgies of liberation and joy, volunteer with our welcome team, or simply stand in witness with your heart open and your spirit proud. However you show up, you are welcome, and your presence matters.

As we walk together, let us remember the words of 1 John: “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” (1 John 4:7)

May our witness be joyful, our welcome be real, and our love reflect the wide and generous heart of Christ.

With hope and pride,

Tim+

Pride Schedule

Pride T Shirts! Show your support with a Saint Mark's Pride T-shirt. They're on sale for $20, and can be purchased on the front lawn during Pride Weekend. Supplies are limited!

Painting our Steps! Thank you so much to all those who braved the heat and helped to ensure the steps were painted! You are all amazing and we can't wait to see all of the excited faces taking photos on our beautiful steps!

Parking! Our Youth Group will be hosting our annual Pride Parking Lot Fundraiser to help us raise funds for our Youth Group Pilgrimages. $20 per car helps us to send the youth to the Acolyte Festival, Washington DC, Germany and many other exciting destinations to study their faith and create lifelong friendships. The parking lot will be open Saturday from 7am-4pm and Sunday from 7am-3pm. Please note, we will not charge for church service parking on Sunday morning, but will open the lot to paid parking promptly at 10:45am.

Friday Evening - Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra Pride Concert

June 27th, 7:30pm

Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra presents Love Letters. More information and tickets available here. Please enter through the main Narthex Doors to the Nave or use the Carriage Doors for accessible entrance.

Outdoor Hospitality! During Pride Weekend, June 28th and 29th, thousands of people from the Twin Cities will be visiting, passing by, or parking their cars at Saint Mark’s. It’s a great opportunity to provide a welcome, assist with questions, share information about the cathedral, or to simply be present as a listener. Come say hi to our amazing Outdoor Hospitality Team!

Pride Parade! The parade is a highly organized event, and many streets downtown will be blocked off that morning. To keep us all organized and to help us find each other, each group in the parade has an assigned "staging area". This is the place in Downtown Minneapolis where we will gather before the Parade begins

IMPORTANT! Our assigned place is Staging Area #11. It's at the intersection of 5th Avenue South and 3rd Street South. Here's the map of the area. We will meet at Staging Area 11 (marked below in neon green) at 10:30 a.m. We will *not* meet before at the Cathedral. And please note that, if you're planning to drive downtown on Sunday morning, no free parking will be available at Saint Mark's because the Cathedral's Youth Group is holding a fundraiser with paid parking on both Saturday and Sunday.

Pride Service! Each year on the Sunday of the Pride festival, hundreds gather at Saint Mark’s to celebrate with our friends and neighbors. This year’s Pride service will be at 4 pm on Sunday, June 29th. It’s always an affirming experience, and particularly special with Bishop Loya presiding. Please plan to join us!

LGBTQ+ Artist Spotlight in our Gallery! Our wonderful art curator, Jay Nuhring, has brought together a stirring collection of art from several artists from the LGBTQ+ community. Their works will be on display in our Gallery throughout the month of June. And after the Pride service on June 29th, please plan to join us to meet the artists and hear their stories and learn more about their inspiration.
