An update from Karen Sprague, Director of Finance & Administration
I want to give you an update and a few highlights on all that has been happening behind the scenes at St. Columba’s this summer. Your Operations and Finance staff has been hard at work.
First, I would like to share with you that our independent audit firm completed its review of our 2013 – 2017 financials and will soon finish its audit of our fiscal year ending June 30, 2018. Details and results will be shared soon by our Treasurer, Tim Massad. We are also starting work on the audit for the most recent year (ending June 30, 2019) with a goal to have it completed before year end. Anyone who has worked for a company that has audits will understand that this required a huge effort by our own staff. I want to especially recognize Sheila Kyler, our Staff Accountant who worked diligently to ensure the auditors had everything they needed when they needed it. Under my guidance, our staff also worked to improve our procedures and policies to ensure we have strong financial controls.
Secondly, our Operations staff – Tony Kittrell & Mitch Guffanti – have been working tirelessly to get numerous projects completed. You will notice one of them as soon as you enter the church whether it be on the first, second or third floors – the walls are painted!!! We are anticipating a new carpet being installed over Labor Day Weekend on the second and third floors. This will show all that we are a lively and energy-filled church – which we are!
Tony and Mitch have also done numerous projects that include repairing the HVAC, relocating the Water Ministry washer and dryer, replacing the access controls into the building to improve controls for the entry/exit schedule, upgrading some of the audio visual equipment, and a number of other maintenance repairs.
We hope that you will be pleased with the way everything looks and the hard work done by the staff.
Thank you for your continued support of St. Columba’s to make all of this possible!
