Dear friends,

It was great to see so many of you at our parish Annual Meeting this past weekend. I am excited for the year ahead of us!

We will be resuming our formation programs this coming Sunday (the 7th) with a video-driven discussion of Lent -- where did it come from and how should we observe it? Then, next Sunday (the 14th), we will talk about Lenten themes and activities for families to use at home. Both of these programs will be conducted over Zoom at approximately 10am or whenever the Morning Prayer service concludes. So just stick around on Zoom after the postlude for these sessions.

Then, our formation series for the five Sundays in Lent leading up to Palm Sunday will be based on A Spring in the Desert by Frank & Victoria Logue. Here is a description of the book:

Jesus stepped out of the water of baptism into uninhabitable wilderness, emerging forty days later to offer the water of life for those thirsting for God’s presence. A little more than two centuries later, a group of Christians withdrew from a spiritually barren Roman Empire to find their faith blossom in the stony soil of the Egyptian desert.
Frank and Victoria Logue offer a Lenten journey inspired by the many passages of scripture that use images of water in the desert as a sign of the healing and wholeness that come through God alone. To this they add the distilled wisdom of the Desert Mothers and Fathers and the surprisingly rich inspiration of the plants and animals that thrive in an arid land. Along the way, they will share the ways our faith speaks to the barren places in our lives and how those times of drought can be a source of strength.

You don't need to have the book since we will be using a companion video series made by the authors, but if you would like a copy, please let me know by Saturday since I will be placing an order direct from the publisher.

It is currently our hope to return to in-person worship on Ash Wednesday and throughout Lent and Easter, so look for more information in the coming days. But if that plan holds, this five-week program will be available both in-person and over Zoom.
