President Baston Attends 99th Annual American Association of Community Colleges Convention
The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) annual convention is among the largest and most dynamic gatherings of educational leaders, attracting over 2,000 community college presidents and senior administrators, as well as international educators, representatives of business/industry and federal agencies.

The AACC's Annual Convention offers professional development as well as the opportunity to network, share, and learn from professionals in the fields of education, business and industry, and the government sector.

Our Leadership Academy program was created to develop leadership skills in employees who have demonstrated excellent leadership potential and have an interest in pursuing future leadership responsibilities at the College. Academy participants are exposed to a broad range of professional presentations relevant to developing future leaders, including self-discovery, professional intelligence, stress management, and diversity awareness.

We made some exciting changes to the program by adding a new Action-Learning Project to the roster of activities. Academy participants, divided into competing groups, were asked to develop a comprehensive solution to an important need at the College. The winning team consisted of Jodilynn Greico, Karen Griffith, Daisy Mercado, Michael Murphy, Eileen MacAvery Kane and Ydania Santos. The winners will be rewarded by having their project funded.
