With more than 570 members, CAPT continues to grow! Your commitment to connecting children, youth, adults and families with the therapeutic healing powers of play and play therapy.

Specialized Training: Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT) members receive a substantial discount at all CAPT-sponsored conferences, workshops and other events.

The CAPT Foundation Play Therapy Training offers individual days of unique training in the theory and practice of play therapy. Students can complete the 180 hours of continuing education credits at the time they choose. The 180 hours are one of the steps needed to become a Certified Play Therapist. The program instructors are professional skilled play therapists who bring expertise on leading topics in mental health, play therapy, brain development, and therapeutic interventions. Members receive a discounted rate.

Publications: CAPT members receive the Association’s periodicals as a membership benefit.

Discounts: CAPT is involved in arrangements with some organizations to provide discounts to Association Members.

No Membership fee increase for 2025



At CAPT, we understand the financial challenges encountering our current climate. In 2025, we will not raise membership fees. We are extending membership renewals to February 28, 2025, to give you additional time.

To maintain good standing, as a certified CAPT member, it is important that CEUs are completed by March 31 of each year. In the past, members were required to input this information on the membership profile. This is no longer a requirement. Members are invited to utilize the tracking system via their CAPT profile, which has undergone some updates to support service use. However, members are welcome to keep their own CEU tracking system. Members continue to be responsible for completing and maintaining a record of their CEUs for each year.

Lastly, as we continue to strive to improve our processes, we will be inviting a select number of certified members to participate in a CEU audit process in the spring and summer months. This process is designed to be supportive to Members and maintain the credibility of CAPT certification.
