Jan Dilenschneider Honored at Center for HOPE Luncheon

At the annual Center for HOPE Luncheon at Wee Burn Beach Club on Wednesday, May 8, Family Centers celebrated the philanthropic contributions of longtime Board member Jan Dilenschneider by presenting her with the 2019 Ray of HOPE Award.
  
The Ray of HOPE is the Center for HOPE’s highest honor, and recognizes those whose efforts assist those coping with a loss or critical illness.

Author Mary Cregan also spoke. the 2019 Center for HOPE Luncheon was co-chaired by Anne Goodnow and Joy Hoffman .
Vendig, Clifford Named
Family Champions by CCFSA

Family Centers’ board member Rob Vendig and Senior Office Manager Lisa Clifford were recognized as “Family Champions” by the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies (CCFSA) for their outstanding commitment to improving the lives of families. 

At a ceremony held at the Lawn Club in New Haven on May 22, the CCFSA honored Vendig, Clifford and 28 other human services professionals and volunteers whose unselfish actions have strengthened families in Connecticut.

Co-Educators Component Added to SPEF's Summer Start Program to Prepare Incoming Kindergartners for Success

With support from the Herbert & Nell Singer Foundation , Family Centers will enter into a new collaborative with the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF)  and Stamford Public Schools (SPS) to enhance a program designed to ensure that incoming kindergartners in Stamford are prepared for sustained educational success.

SPEF’s Summer Start Program has supported the needs of economically disadvantaged families with students entering SPS. Based on the success of its Parents as Co-Educators program , Family Centers will add a parent engagement component to help participating families understand their role as their child’s first best teacher, build capacity for parent-school engagement and advocacy, and to connect them to needed community resources.
Board Member David Ball Honored for Volunteer Service

 B oard Member David Ball was honored for his dedication to improving the lives of area families during The Community Fund of Darien’s annual Darien Volunteer Day Awards ceremony.
 
The event, held Tuesday, May 21 at the Darien Community Association, honored the selfless work of over three dozen area youth and adult volunteers.
 
Ball’s roots with Family Centers run deep. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors since 2015, he has been a supporter of Family Centers and its 25 health, education and human service programs for many years. His mother, Anne, was also a longtime Board Member who had served multiple terms as Family Centers’ Board Chair.
