On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, the District of Columbia Department of Corrections held its first Residential Substance Abuse and Treatment (RSAT) training under the leadership of Camile Williams, Deputy Director for Programs & Case Management. The training was conducted at DOC's Center for Professional Development and Learning.

and her team organized the two day training; which covered topics such as
RSAT Policy
,
What an RSAT Client Looks Like
,
Treatment vs. Punishment
,
Co-Occurring Disorders
, and
Taking Care of the Care Taker.
Training participants consisted of dedicated Correctional Officers who desire to work in the Specialized Program Unit.
"This training was right on time as it relates to the loss of one of our very own," Private Winston said.
Training participants also reinforced that the work that the Programs & Case Management team does is truly making a difference.
"I learned a lot from this training," Private Staley said.
