The
Joyful Giving
Holiday Feast was filled with food, fellowship and fun as we celebrated the holidays and the close of the DC One Fund Campaign. Because of your generous giving our agency raised more than $120,000, surpassing last year’s amount of $117,137. DOC not only prides itself on the work we do within our facilities but our commitment to strengthening communities by supporting those in need.
Sallie Thomas, Agency Liaison for the DC One Fund is beyond pleased with this year's fundraising efforts. “Awesome employees,” Mrs. Thomas said. "Awesome, awesome employees."

2017 was year of transition and many firsts. We started the year with new executive leadership, and after 20 years we resumed oversight of the Correctional Treatment Facility (formerly under CoreCivic). The transition was a huge undertaking but because of your cooperative work the safety and operations of our facilities remained normal. Employees across all facilities, from each division did tremendous work delivering services and programming to impact residents in our care as well as those preparing for community re-integration.Our programs and services truly distinguishes us from other agencies nationwide.
This year, preexisting programs were expanded and new programs were launched. We were proud to offer monthly book clubs, spoken word and poetry ciphers, movie showings, athletic tournaments, graduation ceremonies, round table discussions, Empowerment Sessions, Employment Fairs, Family Reunification Days, Breast Cancer Walks, Yoga, and Volunteer and Employee Recognition Ceremonies.
As 2017 draws to a close, take a moment to celebrate your creativity, work and accomplishments throughout the year.
Cheers to continued progress in
2018
