AFTER SEPTEMBER 1 MENTORSHIP PROCESS
Today is one month until Georgetown's internal deadline: September 1 at 12 PM NOON (not midnight) ET.
You will be matched with a campus mentor if you 1) list Georgetown University as your organizational affiliation and 2) lock your completed draft Fulbright application (including recommendations and evaluations) in the application portal by Georgetown's internal deadline (again, September 1, 12 PM NOON ET).
NOTE: The application lock feature is available in the "Ready for Campus Review" tab of the portal. Please do not use the submit feature for the September 1 internal deadline. Additionally, the Center for Research & Fellowships reserves the right to not match with a campus mentor applicants who lock incomplete draft applications by the September 1 internal due date.
MORE ABOUT MENTORS
Fulbright mentors are Georgetown faculty, staff, and alumni who generously volunteer their time each year to help with two important aspects of the application process.
First, a campus mentor reviews the draft application an applicant locked in the Fulbright portal. The mentor then meets with the applicant (in person or via Zoom) to discuss the application and provide feedback for strengthening it. After the campus mentor meeting, the applicant will have the opportunity to update the unlocked application in the Fulbright portal.
Second, the campus mentor completes a Campus Committee Evaluation Form about the applicant that Georgetown submits directly to Fulbright. This document becomes a part of the applicant's materials reviewed by Fulbright selection committees.
PREPARING FOR YOUR MENTOR MEETING
To prepare for your mentor meeting, it is helpful to:
- Go over your statement of grant purpose and short answers again closely to be sure you can thoughtfully discuss your content choices.
-
Review Fulbright's Campus Committee Evaluation Form (English Teaching Assistant and Study/Research) to better understand the topics mentors will be asked to address about you.
- Think through how you will summarize your enthusiasm for the project (that is, research, study, or teaching) and the host country, while providing your mentor with specific examples about how you are prepared/are preparing for the grant experience.
