Time Is Flying: 3 Weeks!

A clock on Georgetown's campus with a bulldog graphic on its face and a residence hall behind it

There are now just three weeks until Georgetown's internal Fulbright application deadline: September 1, 2023 at 12 PM (noon) ET!

Do not wait! If your application draft is final, submit it to us, via the Fulbright application portal, any time in August. (Your application draft will not go to Fulbright at this point when you submit it in the portal.)

If you are applying and have not done so already, please complete this very brief Intent to Apply Form. In addition, in order to match you with a mentor, it is necessary for you to complete and submit the center's Waiver and Agreement Form.

Also remember the various resources we have highlighted in previous editions of this e-newsletter:

Other Essay Tips

  • After you've written a first draft of your Personal Statement and Statement of Grant Purpose, look again at the questions Fulbright has asked you to address to ensure you have done so adequately in your text.
  • When drafting your Statement of Grant Purpose, it may be useful to use keywords to introduce each section of your essay, such as Previous Work on Topic:, Academic/Research Questions:, Methods:, Timeline:, Host Country Engagement:, Curriculum Relevance:, etc. Given space limitations, these keywords can be situated right at the beginning of the opening line of the relevant paragraph text. Such keywords can be helpful textual anchors for application reviewers who are reading many essays!

New Award Spotlight

U.S.-Korea Presidential STEM Initiative Award

Open Study/Research Awards under the U.S.-Korea Presidential STEM Initiative provide the opportunity for academically mature students to complete independent research projects in Korea through 6-10 months of grant support. Student researchers are sought in all STEM fields and from all degree levels (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral), with the broad requirement that student researchers must pursue a distinctive research project relevant to Korea that can be reasonably accomplished within the proposed award time frame.
