It's a Fulbright Friday!

LOCKING YOUR APPLICATION

Deadline: Tuesday, September 1, 2026

12 PM NOON ET

If you are applying by Georgetown's internal deadline: Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 12 PM NOON ET, be sure to select "Georgetown University-DC" in the Country & Award Selection section of the application.

Also remember to lock your completed draft application using the "Ready for Campus Review" section of the application (pictured here).

DO NOT use the "Review & Submit" feature of the application for the internal September 1 deadline. This action cannot be undone, and your application would be sent to Fulbright permanently.

TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH APPLICATION?

  • If you are experiencing any technical issues with the Fulbright US Student Program application, write to FBstudentsupport@iie.org

  • When you register individuals as recommenders or language evaluators, they should receive an email from FBstudent@iie.org. If they cannot locate this email, they should first check their Spam folder or Mimecast. If they still cannot locate the message, they should email FBstudentsupport@iie.org for assistance from the same email address you used when registering them in the Fulbright application portal. They should reference your name in their message.

Please don't wait until the last minute! At this busy point in the application cycle, it is possible that Fulbright/IIE won't be able to reply immediately.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

As we approach the internal September 1, 2026, at 12 PM NOON ET deadline to apply through Georgetown University's campus committee review and mentorship process, a few helpful reminders:

  • Language evaluations (when required by the host country) and all 3 recommendations are due by the September 1 (12 PM NOON ET) deadline. As noted in our frequently asked questions, the center reserves "the right to not match with a campus mentor applicants who lock incomplete draft applications by the September 1 internal due date."

Given the volume of applications each year, the center cannot reply to individual extension requests about recommendations, language evaluations, and affiliations. Send a reminder to your 3 recommenders and (if required) language evaluators TODAY!

Remember: The recommendations and language evaluations are submitted via the Fulbright application portal. So you must first register your recommenders and language evaluators in the portal in order for them to submit these documents.

  • If you are locking your application by Georgetown's internal deadline, please be sure to complete the center's Waiver and Agreement Form, which is REQUIRED to be matched with a campus mentor.

  • Again, for the internal September 1 deadline, use the "Ready for Campus Review" lock feature in the application portal. DO NOT use the submit feature as your application will be permanently sent to Fulbright. This action cannot be undone.

  • If you do not apply by Georgetown's internal September 1 deadline and you meet the eligibility requirements, you can still list "Georgetown University-DC" as your institutional affiliation in the application portal. In this case, you won't take part in the campus committee review and mentorship process, but you must submit your completed application by Fulbright's national deadline, which is October 6, 2026, at 5 PM ET.

  • If after your Georgetown degree you enrolled in and/or graduated from a degree program at a different institution, that institution will be your Fulbright affiliation, not Georgetown. If that institution does not have a Fulbright Program Advisor, you can apply in the At Large category. If this is the case, you would not apply through Georgetown's internal campus committee review and mentorship process and would not lock an application by September 1.
