A Note from Pastor Kellen

First Pres Family,

It’s hard to believe that March 8, 2020 was the last day we gathered for worship without restrictions and limitations. Covid forced us to navigate a challenging season of virtual-only and eventually socially distant worship. After 15 long months, Gov. Pritzker recently announced that this week Illinois will fully reopen without restrictions. This Sunday, June 13, we will no longer have any capacity limitations and be fully reopened for worship!

Per CDC guidelines, wearing masks at church for vaccinated individuals is optional and encouraged for those who are unvaccinated. We will honor and respect the choice of each individual as it relates to masks.

This week, we will also offer 9:00 a.m. Outdoor Worship in the Courtyard. Feel free to bring a lawn chair or we will have chairs available. In-person and Livestream worship in the Sanctuary will continue at 10:30 a.m.

I look forward to seeing your smiling faces! I’m grateful for your prayers and patience as we followed health guidelines over the past year. We give thanks to the Lord for carrying us through this season.

God bless you,
Pastor Kellen

This Sunday Pastor Mike Miller will join us for worship at 10:30, which will include a conversation with Pastor Kellen about how we can build bridges of healing, understanding, and reconciliation as a church community and as individual followers of Jesus. Join us in person or online for this helpful and encouraging conversation!

Sermon Series: Pray Like This
June 13 July 11
Week 1: Matthew 6:9

In this series, we will explore how Jesus teaches us to pray. We will dive deep into the Lord’s Prayer, which Jesus taught his disciples to pray. Over several weeks, we will look at each clause of the prayer and understand the deep principles embedded within. We will discover a blueprint for how we can model Jesus’ words in our own prayer life. Whether you are new to prayer, haven’t prayed in a while, or are a seasoned prayer warrior, this prayer is the perfect place to begin and to deepen your faith.

Wednesday Night Summer Bible Study

Pastor’s Summer Study: The Book of Acts
Wednesdays in-person in Stewart Hall

6:30 p.m. Coffee, refreshments and fellowship
7:00-8:00 p.m. Study and conversation

Pastor Kellen will lead a weekly summer study of the Book of Acts, which chronicles the origins of the church. In many ways, as we slowly emerge out of a long Covid season, the church’s ministries are beginning again. Like the early church, the church of 2021 is being born anew. Learn how our story finds resonance in the story of the early church.
