YOU SPOKE. WE LISTENED
Over the past few weeks, thousands of Fulton County residents raised their voices loud and clear: No Tax Hike!
Through public comments, emails, phone calls, and community engagement, you sent a unified message to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. I’m proud to report that your efforts paid off.
Despite an initial vote in June to advertise a 1 mil increase—equivalent to a 12.5% property tax hike that would have generated $80 million in additional revenue at the expense of homeowners and renters—the Board ultimately voted 6–1 to keep the millage rate flat at 8.87.
I was incredibly pleased to join Chairman Robb Pitts and Vice Chairman Ellis, Commissioners Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, Dana Barrett, and Marvin Arrington in rejecting the proposed tax increase. Commissioner Mo Ivory was the sole vote in favor of the tax hike.
So many of you shared how this increase would have further strained household budgets, especially with rising costs of housing, food, and healthcare. Your voices, combined with persistent advocacy, helped turn the tide.
Thank you for your engagement and commitment to holding government accountable. This victory demonstrates the power of grassroots action—and I encourage you to stay involved. Budget planning for 2026 begins this fall and will directly impact next year’s millage rate. In order to continue keeping taxes low, we must prioritize responsible spending. Please consider now how you would like money to be allocated, and share that with the BOC.
Stay engaged. Stay informed. Together, we make a difference.
