Arkansas 4-H Mission

The mission of 4-H is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, form attitudes, and practice behavior that will enable them to become self directing, productive, and contributing members of society. The 4-H emblem is a four-leaf clover with an "H" on each leaf.

Bright Future

Bright Future met on Friday, January 31st after school. We had our 4-H meeting, you see 4-H is a class for learning about nutrition, responsibilities, and many different things. Mrs. McQueen our 4-H leader is kind, listens, and teaches us what we need to learn. She had given us positions as members of the club. President, Photography, Secretary, and Reporter ex. Mrs. McQueen provides fun games which help us learn about nutrition as well as other need to know things. When in the club we pick projects to do and over the next few weeks try to complete them, then we bring our projects to the club to show our progress on the project or if we have finished. Joining the 4-H program is a very nice opportunity for kids to learn responsibility. In conclusion, it was a very enjoyable meeting. Isabella Cox Reporter. Next meeting will Friday, February 28th!

March Meeting TBD.

Spring River Bears

December News-Spring River bears club vet December 11 and the high school cafeteria. We had 14 members present and five volunteers. The members made care packages for the pre-K. The bags were stuffed with one box of Band-Aids, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a few sweet treats. They decorated the bags with Christmas themed designs. Our party consisted of making a homemade ornament and decorating sugar cookies. Our gift to the members were 4H T-shirts donated by a business person in our area. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

January News-Spring River Bears Club met January 8. We had 11 members present and four volunteers. We had a speaker from the first responders, Billy Edwards. He brought gear to show the kids and talked about some of the things they do as first responders. The members collected drinks and snack foods to give to the first responders. We made bird feeders from peanut butter and bagels and wrapped them in birdseed. Our next meeting will be February 12.

Viola Loyal Longhorns

The Viola Loyal Longhorns January meeting was cancelled due to weather. We will meet again on Thursday, February 13. Hope to see you there!

Fulton County participants need to be registered as 4-H members in Z-Suites. Call our office at 870-895-3301 to order your birds or for any questions.

Please be advised!! If an HPAI case causes the location to be under a surveillance zone we will not be able to have the show at that location. That could cause us to have to move location or cancel the show even with birds having been distributed. Unfortunately, that is just a risk this spring with HPAI.

4-H Ross Photography Contest

The due date for county submission is April 1st. This contest provides an opportunity for Arkansas 4-H'ers to demonstrate, compete and exhibit their photography skills. All active 4-H members age 9-19 are eligible.

Each 4-H member may enter two color photographs (one must be in the living category and one must be in the non-living category - if two are entered) and two black-and-white photographs (one must be in the living category and one must be in the non-living category, if two are entered). Four county winners are selected from those entries, one in each category – these will be submitted to the state level.

At the state level, each county may enter four photographs. These must be the same winners in the four categories at county level. First, second and third-place state level winners are selected in each category.
