EDUCATIONAL INSIGHT

BLUE WHALE

The largest animal living today and the largest to live in the ocean is the blue whale!

They can grow to 100 feet and can weigh 200,000 pounds

The heart pictured below is the actual size of a blue whale's heart.

Like the human heart, the heart of the blue whale has 4 chambers. These pictures were taken at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford MA. The life size models show that the left pulmonary artery and caudal vena cava are large enough for you to actually be able to crawl through.

Adult Blue Whale Heart:

Weighs 1000 pounds

Circulates 1400 gallons of blood

Beats 8 - 10 times per minute

Adult Human Heart:

Weighs 0.75 pounds

Circulates 1.2 - 1.5 gallons of blood

Beats 60 - 80 times a minute

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Keep your face always toward the sunshine and

the shadows will fall behind you

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE

DIVERSITY OF OUR CAREGIVERS

With each newsletter sent to our employees, Home Helpers would like to share a little of the culture, history, and inner beauty of our caregivers. If you would like to teach us about your country, a special hobby or tradition, please let us know. We want to share your story so that we can all learn about your experiences, and we can grow, appreciate, and be united in our mutual goals of respect, kindness, and making the world a better place to live.

I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHARE

HAITIAN SOCIAL

Although there was a disappointing small turnout at the Haitian Social held in the office on August 9th, those that did come had a great time, shared in good conversation, laughter, and dancing!
